What causes joint pain?
In 2016, Inserm shared the results of a survey entitled "Les Français et les rhumatismes" (The French and rheumatism), which revealed, unsurprisingly, that one in two French people suffers from joint pain. Wrongly categorized as an age-related illness, the survey shows that a third of 18-24 year-olds suffer from it.
The causes of these pains can be multiple, for example:
- traumatic causes A blow, a fall or an accident can lead to joint pain (elongation, sprain or dislocation).
- inflammatory causes Inflammation of the joint area (arthritis, tendonitis, etc.).
- mechanical causes These include obesity, high-level sport, and cartilage wear (osteoarthritis, generally after age 50). Deformities can also lead to mechanical joint pain.

- swelling
- lack of flexibility
- loss of mobility
